Today’s college process is complicated and school guidance counselors are stretched to their limits. Colleges receive thousands of applications every year and the numbers keep going up. The result is that colleges are becoming more selective even as more students apply. At the same time, school guidance counselors are given an almost impossible task. The ratio of students to guidance counselors in one local school system in NC is 388 to 1. Though dedicated counselors do their utmost, they cannot provide the support that every student needs.
More and more families are turning to independent educational consultants to bridge the gap.
